Pure Water

(Originally entered into journal on January 9 2016) I don’t believe in making New Year’s resolutions anymore. I’m not going to promise to do something or quit something or change something since I can never seem be where I want to be six months later. The guilt is slavery. Year after year of missing the mark. So I haven’t made any resolutions for several years, but less than 10 days into the New Year I sense that the time has come for me to wake up from this slumber. The Answer is right in front of me and has been all along.
I ignore the distracting thoughts in my mind and purposely grab The Fruit of the Spirit by Leroy Brownlow on the shelf above me and open it randomly. The page opens to “Goodness.” Brownlow writes “ in allowing the Spirit to form our character and life we are given the strongest and the best, for He based it on plain old goodness– a fruit of the Spirit. The good heart from which the good deeds come is essential.
Proverbs 4:23 – Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it come the issues of life. No mistake about it. Pure water can flow only from a pure spring: and likewise, goodness can emanate only from “the honest and good heart” (Luke 8:15)
I am immediately drawn to the current water situation in our home. A week ago we started noticing a foul smell coming out of the faucets. After investigating my husband determined we needed a new water heater. We needed pure water not smelly cloudy water. The Spirit within me said “Wake up! The time is near. Focus on what matters.”
Lord help me to do just that and thank you for the Pure water.

However, through what precisely I have witnessed, I just simply wish when the actual opinions pile on that people continue to be on issue and not start on a tirade regarding the news du jour. Yet, thank you for this outstanding piece and whilst I can not go along with the idea in totality, I regard your perspective.
