Why would God bless America with liberty?
2021 thought -Why was a more perfect union desired? What was going on in the land that our forefathers so desperately wanted leave? Why was establishing justice so important? Why is it important in SECURING liberty? What happens if the people in the land of liberty aren’t protected by the government from foreign invaders seeking to harm? Are we the only ones who benefit from promoting the country’s welfare?
Benjamin Franklin – 1787- “ Here is my creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe. That He governs it by His Providence. That He ought to be worshiped.” (In Constitutional Framing Convention making a motion for prayer) “I have lived, sir, for a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth…That God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is is probable that an empire can rise with His aid?”
2021 thought- Benjamin knew that God was involved in the desire for a free nation. He knew that in order to succeed in building a free nation the people had to acknowledge that God existed and was to be honored first. The blessings would then flow freely.
