We have now moved out of the house we raised our children in and we now find ourselves in the midst of pandemic/riots/looting/political agendas. I felt compelled to repost. May America have the courage to admit that we have been given a land by God, that has been blessed with liberty and freedom. A land that millions of others around the world strive to experience. May we have the courage to learn from our mistakes. May we FORGIVE each other for the sake of those who will come after us. Let ALL Americans learn from the past but let us never forget from where we have come and hard hard we fought to get here.
(Originally written late 2017.) Getting ready to pack up this part of our lives and move on to the next. I came across this poster that hung on the wall for years in our Study/Library room, which was decorated in red, white and blue. Time flies but some things should never change.
I pledge allegiance to the flag
A pledge is a promise, and allegiance means being faithful
of the United States of America
Flags have been used from ancient times to represent or identify nations
and to the Republic for which is stands
As Americans, we pledge to be faithful to a set of ideals, rather than to a king or land. One of those worthy principles is how we govern ourselves–as a republic. The people elect representatives, who govern for a time and are accountable to the people for the job they do.
One nation under God,
Our Founders understood that the government does not give us our freedom. Our freedom ultimately comes from God and our government was established to secure that God-given freedom. Our Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness– that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men…”

We pledge ourselves to stay together as a country, even when we disagree.
with Liberty and justice for all.
Liberty means freedom, and we commit ourselves to such liberties as the freedom to worship, freedom to assemble, and freedom to speak. We also commit ourselves to justice which means being fair and right in our judgment of people.
While America has not always lived up to these high ideals, by reciting the pledge we remind ourselves of our commitment to them.
