A Costly Free Gift

I once gave a Christmas gift to someone who opened it but then refused to accept it.  I was shocked, hurt and insulted all at the same time.  I had given much thought to that gift and it really confused me to say the least. How could someone be so cruel? This person was an adult and  I wondered where they got (or didn’t get) their manners from. I had always taught my children to accept gifts with gratitude  even if the present was  something they might not have liked or wanted. They were to show respect to the gift giver and say “thank you” because it was the thought that counted.

 

I thought about God the Father and how He put great thought and planning into a Gift that would truly benefit all mankind. He spared no cost and sacrificed His Only Son so that you and I could have a relationship with Him here on Earth, and have a place to call Home with Him when we die. John 3 verse 16 teaches “God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son so that whoever would believe in Him would have everlasting Life”

As Christmas approaches I thought about that unwanted gift of mine, and wonder how many people go about the planning and “business” of Christmas knowing full well what Gift is offered, but refuse to accept it? How many people could care less that God thought of them before they ever thought of Him? I think that God must feel hurt and insulted too. His free Gift to us cost Him everything. How ungrateful it must seem to our Creator God who provided the Greatest Gift for the salvation of man but when offered, man refuses to accept that Gift!

Ephesians 2:6-9 – But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressionsβ€”it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithβ€”and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godβ€” not by works, so that no one can boast. 

If you have not accepted the Gift of Christ and the salvation He provides will you do so this Christmas?

Ask Christ to come into your heart and He will. (Acts 16:31, John 3:16)

Pray to God and ask for Him to show you where you can regularly hear Bible teaching and spend time with His People.

      Yes I use WordPress as my site platform and I have someone who does my coding. I had an idea what I wanted to do and they did code accordingly

    1. I am so glad to hear that Jerry! My “information” comes from life experiences and the Word of God. I have always wanted to write stories and articles to bring people to a saving knowledge of Christ because it is a subject near and dear to my heart.

When the idea for From Crimson To Snow came into being and I knew that I wanted to write down what was in my heart and share my thoughts with others, I felt that God was saying NOT to make it too long or add too much.   151. “It’s the thought that counts”….led me to think about all the boxes of candy I have received and either placed them on a shelf or gifted them to others….or just gave them away. The many household gifts we could not use and either gave them to family members or The Salvation Army. I don’t know “How ungrateful it must seem to God who provided the Greatest Gift for the salvation of man when man refuses to accept that Gift!” …….but I do know what
    that this is what the bible tells us about such refusal to accept his gift:
    Hebrews 2:3-4 (KJV)
    How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
